Pool
With a diameter of 7 meters and depth of 1.2 meters, our pool* overlooks the horse’s pasture and provides a refreshing escape on a hot summer day. You can also sink into a luxurious sun bed on our green sun deck, which comes complete with umbrellas and a shower.
*The pool is open from June - Sept, 9am to 7pm and available exclusively to guests of Lo Smarrino.
Silence
Eager for the sweet sound of silence? You’ve come to the right place. None of the rooms here at Lo Smarrino have a TV, which is a conscious choice. Why? Because we believe that those who stay with us have better things to do than stream a television series.
Instead, spend your evenings stargazing, meditate to the soothing babbling of San Giorgio stream, or while away an evening with a good book. Here you will regenerate with a full night’s sleep in total darkness and zero artificial noise (except the occasional hoot of an owl).
Breakfast
Freshly prepared every morning, we take great pride in serving a breakfast made entirely from local products that are in season. If it hasn’t come directly from our farm, you can be sure that whatever ingredients we use are from local suppliers.
Put another way: You won’t find any avocado toast or tropical juice here!
What you will find is a daily offer of cakes, freshly baked bread, and savory eggs cooked to perfection along with espresso, filtered coffee, or cappuccino. Served daily from 8:00 to 10:00 am.
WiFi
As with so much of what we offer here at Lo Smarrino, it’s up to you to create the experience you’re longing for.
If you want to disconnect completely, there is no better place. But if you’re searching for the perfect spot from where you can work remotely or complete that manuscript, you will have all the peace and quiet you need to do so.
It’s for this reason that we offer our guests fast, reliable WiFi service through Starlink satellite Internet, which provides coverage both indoors and outdoors.
BBQ Area
Guests of Lo Smarrino are welcome to use our rustic outdoor BBQ whenever available.
Just a few minutes’ drive away in the Medieval town of Gubbio, you will find a beautiful outdoor market and several local shops selling high-quality meats, seafood, and seasonal vegetables that are perfect for grilling.
Add a few aromatic herbs from our garden and…voila! You have all the ingredients for a perfect lunch or dinner spent in the balmy shade of our pergola.
Reading lounge
Our breakfast room is home to a peaceful reading corner with books in several languages and genres (along with a few of our favorite table games).
Perfect for those times when you return from a hike or sightseeing and want to “turn off” and enjoy a blissful moment of solitude (and some shade!). Or, if you’re a true bookworm, you might not need an excuse to spend a whole afternoon here in the company of some of the greatest writers, with or sans spritz.
The Internet connection here is very reliable, providing a perfect working station from where you can sip on a nice cappuccino and enjoy the view of our horses.
Fresh Air
It’s Umbria!
We have made a conscious choice not to have A/C in any of our guest rooms. Why? For starters, Gubbio stands at 500 meters above sea level and is one of the cooler cities in Umbria, with a frequent fresh breeze all year round. Added to that, Lo Smarrino is nestled amongst a beautiful forest next to a freshwater stream. This means that our average temperature is typically a fair bit cooler than our neighbors in Gubbio.
Forget wasting resources on A/C. All you need to do to cool off is throw open those windows and breathe our fresh, clean air!

Water
You will never see plastic water bottles at Lo Smarrino. That’s because we have a glorious well that provides all the water we need here on our property. That means high-quality, purified water for both drinking and cooking.
At Lo Smarrino, we recognize water as a precious commodity, and ask our guests to please use it wisely, as we pledge to do the same.
